Americans responded to this corporate indifference by bypassing of their local Buick dealers, as they went in search of something from Japan or Europe. By the late 90’s, this storied car brand had completely fallen from the premium car segment. Then GM went bankrupt, and the boffins at Buick decided to give the luxury segment another go. The 1931 Bugatti Royale Kellner Coupe is the most expensive car ever made. The car was sold for $8.7 million.

Ettore Bugatti had dreams of building the biggest, most luxurious car ever made and selling it to kings and queens around the world. Royal customers balked at spending what Bugatti was charging, and so only six of the cars were built, and only three sold.

This fifteen foot Bugatti Royale powered by Its huge 12.7-litre engine that was originally meant for use in aircraft is one of the largest ever fitted into a car. Bodied by Paris coachbuilder Kellner, this car was bricked into Bugatti’s French garage to hide it from the Nazis.

Festivals of Speed Returns to St. Petersburg for Tenth Year

Only a few days after announcing their first event of 2013, the Festivals of Speed announced their second event of the new year. This is good news for those of us outside of the Jacksonville area.

April 5th, the Festivals of Speed returns to St. Petersburg for the tenth year. The weekend’s events begin that Friday with the Luxury Lifestyle Jet Port Reception in an actual hangar at the Tampa International Airport. There you’ll find the world’s most exotic vehicles, delicious foods and drinks, live jazz music and both a live and silent auction all in one place!

Sunday, the 7th, the main event will take place in downtown St. Petersburg at the Renaissance Vinoy Marina. Expect to see hundreds of exotics vehicles; fine wine, spirits, food, and cigars; and luxurious jewelry and timepiece displays.

Orlando Festivals Of Speed November 30 – December 2

If (like me) you’re not a big fan of cold weather, then Orlando is the place to be come early December. And (again, like me) you enjoy delicious food, wine, cigars and stunning exotic cars, planes and boats, then Orlando is the only place to be!

The Festivals of Speed will be returning to Orlando, Florida November 30 – December 2. There you’ll find the sights, sounds, smells and tastes you’d expect from the Festivals of Speed.

Friday (November 30), it all kicks off with the Luxury Lifestyle Jet Port Reception featuring delicious foods and drinks, a silent auction and poker tournament benefitting the Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children, a high-energy jazz orchestra and – of course – a collection of exotic cars at the Orlando International Airport.

Saturday (December 1st), the Festivals host an exclusive Wine Connoisseurs’ Dinner and Louis XIII de Rémy Martin tasting experience.
